The great master of the Modernist style era – the brightest and most talented sculptor of this art movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His passion was so strong that when I finally found a buyer for this piece, the sculptor flatly refused to sell it. As a result, in bronze “Gates of hell” was cast only after the author’s death.

A special place in the work of Rodin is the sculpture group “the burghers of Calais”. Created by order of the municipal authorities of Calais, the sculpture was supposed to symbolize the courage of the citizens, made the decision to give his life for the salvation of his native city.
