Italian artist Francesco Furini (1603-1646) was born in Florence, served as a priest in the parish of Sant Ansano in Mujello. Here he began to paint on mythological and religious subjects. The plot of the painting by Furini “Lot and his daughters” is based on the myth of Lot’s vicious connection with her daughters. According to legend, Lot’s daughters, left without husbands, decided to give birth to descendants from their father, drinking him. First, the eldest daughter got in touch, the next day – the youngest.
