The war completely turned the consciousness of atheist Dali. The artist became a believer, which did not fail to affect his work. So in the works, mysticism and Christian motives began to unite in a bizarre way.
The painter created two versions of the painting “Madonna Port Ligata” (1949, Marchetga University, Milwaukee; 1950, meeting by Minami Groop, Tokyo). A prototype of these compositions Dali made a canvas of the artist of the Piero era of the Francesc case “Madonna with the Saints and the Duke of Urbinsky” (1472-1474, Brer Gallery, Milan). The author gives Our Lady the face of his wife Gala. How Pope Pius XII reacted to this is unknown, but he accepted the first option as a gift.
