Description of the picture :
Still life with natilus and a Chinese bowl – Willem Calf. Oil on canvas. 79 x 67 cm
A luxurious and chic still life was presented to the world by the Dutch artist Willem Calf! The picture is written very picturesquely, in the style of realism.
The plot of the picture is exciting at first sight. On the table stands expensive dishes: a gold tray with a Chinese vase and the image on it of embossed male and female figures in oriental clothes, with a lid thrown to one side, at the top of which the outline of the lion is noticeable; spoon in vase; cup – nautilus from a bizarre sea shell with the image of a Buddhist dragon; tall glass with red, flickering, sparkling wine. The Persian rug brings rich luxury to the atmosphere. The beauty of still life fascinates and takes away dreams and dreams into the world. Oriental style captivates with mystery.
Near the bowl lies peeled yellow lemon. An orange flaunts on a carpet with a thin branch. In the background of the picture, other cutlery is visible. Items are freely and harmoniously. Each of them gives cozy warmth, aesthetics of everyday life and an original taste. The artist created this still life with great inspiration! In his work, he used lighting effects on the overall dark background of the picture. Such work tactics bring magical originality to the composition. Items seem to “drow” in the twilight, but it is this design that gives the masterpiece special artistic magic.
Willem Calf wrote still lifes very gifted. He was a talented and educated person. He had a delicate, elegant taste, he felt the work “throughout”, introducing extraordinary elements into them. Each of his artistic masterpieces is written brilliantly and uniquely! The picture gives good, peace, tranquility, silence. Contemplating her, I want to be in solitude and reflect on the eternal. She relieves stress, normalizes psycho-emotional background. The picture will look great in the living room, bedroom and study room.
