Overview of the painting :
On therable land. Spring – Alexey Gavrilovich Venetianov. The first half of the 1820s. 51.2×65.5
Picture “On therable land. Spring ”gives a vivid idea of the features of genre painting A. G. Venetianova is one of his best works. A stalemate peasant woman in a sundress walks barefoot on arable land and leads two horses pulling a harrow. The low horizon, rare bushes and small stones on the field give the female figure monumentality.
The landscape is written in detail and realistically: a transparent light blue sky, tangible wet dark earth and open expanses of a vast field. The harmonious combination of the truth of life and romantic fiction creates the basis of the whole work.
