Overview of the painting :
Ship Grove – Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin. Oil on canvas 165 x 252 cm
The outstanding landscape painter Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin, in the words of contemporaries, heard the true “king of the forest.”. The painting “Ship grove” is one of the last in the work of the master. Compositions of work are characterized by a strict balance and a clear accuracy of plans, but it does not have the composition of the landscape characteristic of painting of the XVIII – first half of the XIX century.
The subtle observation and unmistakable point of view found make it possible to successfully capture a piece of nature, turning it into a stage of living nature. The sensitivity of the perception of nature, the love comprehension of its features and the workshop of the transmission of its charm by the language of painting make Shishkin’s paintings tangible, giving the viewer the opportunity to feel the tarry smell of the forest, its morning coolness and freshness of the air.
The sincere story of the life of the forest was a great success for the public.
