Overview of the painting :

Stil – Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky. Oil on canvas. 216 x 345 cm
Stormy or calm, in sunset or in moonlight, always changeable, but invariably beautiful, the sea fascinates us with its beauty and power. Many artists wrote sea landscapes, but the most talented of them was and remains Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, who perfectly and very realistically conveys the power and beauty of the aquatic element. Endlessly in love with the sea, he very often wrote it during the lull, each time creating a new image filled with completely different feelings.

Summer noon. The bright sun floods everything around with warm golden light, fluffy white clouds almost imperceptible in its rays, slowly floating in a high blue sky. In this radiance, magnificent sea surface, spread to the horizon itself, is poured with warm pink-antar shades. The sparkling glare and silver sparks of the solar track lying on the water blind the eyes.

In the distance, in a sultry marava, pale-silac outlines of the island of Capri and dark purple silhouettes of ships dissolve. In the air, not the slightest breath of the breeze is felt. The mirror surface of the sea is hardly moving, transparent waves lazily run over the gentle sandy shore.

A small boat tied to a peg sways off the coast. The rays of the midday sun, reflected from the water, throw gently coral glare at her nose. And only in the shadow of this boat is a real emerald turquoise color of water.

The young couple was very close to the raiding waves. On heated sand lies on the stomach of a young man, his shirt turns brightly whitewashed in the sun. He doze off, putting his head in his arms. A girl sits nearby, turning her back on the sun. Around silence, a little audible meringue rustle of waves lulls.

Not far from the coast is a ship, barely spread sails, in the shadow of which sailors rest on the deck. Narrow long flag hung on the mast. Hot, no wind. Full calm. Even the ubiquitous gulls are not visible around, only the desert sky and the sea.

A warm palette of tender yellowish-copper and shining pink-pearl shades, restrained halftones of chocolate-nut color, slightly diluted with spots of azure-green and malachite paint, creates a light and joyful mood.

Thanks to the talent and skill of the artist, the water element comes to life. The sultry air is filled with sea smells, a quiet splash of waves is heard, solar bunnies play on the water. The appearance of endless expanses is breathtaking.

The feeling of serenity and some incredible happiness. One of the most enchanting and bright works of a brilliant artist, whom you can admire endlessly.
