Overview of the painting :
Swimming – Boris Mikhailovich Kustodiev. 1912. Plywood, oil. 35×40
According to “Kustodievsky”, the sunny day in the picture is full of saturated flowers. Blue sky, green fireman, mirror shine of water, sunny yellow bathhouse – all together make up a warm summer.
Swimmers are prescribed by the artist schematically, very delicately. Kustodiev, as if he himself, looks away from the swimsuit and draws attention to the surrounding nature, filling it with unnatural bright colors.
On the shore is an ordinary life. Boaters offer the public a ride along the river, a loaded cart rises with difficulty in the mountain. On the hill – a red church.
Twice the artist depicted a Russian tricolor. The white-blue-red panel adorns the bathhouse and the side of the large boat. Most likely, we have a holiday. Summer is a holiday for everyone who is able to appreciate it.
Swimmers have a leisurely conversation, enjoying the warmth, the sun, the river. Unhindered, measured, happy life.
