Overview of the painting :

legible bride – Pavel Andreevich Fedotov. Oil on canvas. 37 x 45 cm

The magnificent picture was created by Pavel Andreevich Fedotov! An interesting plot scene attracts the attention of viewers. The center of the artistic composition depicts a middle-aged lady and her in love gentleman. A woman is sitting on a chair in a room with a luxurious interior. She is dressed in a beautiful, magnificent dress in the style of the year before last; expensive necklace on her neck; on the hand of the ring. Her face is nice and pretty. Hair is neatly collected in a bundle, eyebrows are spread out, eyes are lowered down, fresh, gentle blush on the cheeks. She smiles slightly at the gentleman and thinks about their future relationship.

A young man with a bald head starting to appear and a hump on his back stands on her knee and holds the lady’s hand. He looks simple and immature, offering a woman a hand and a heart, but is full of firmness and determination in his intentions. The lady sympathizes with him very much and he seeks her location. The man is wearing a black jacket and blue trousers, the shoes are polished to shine. The hat, gloves and a long cane lie next to it. He threw them in a fit of his feelings.

The court is watching the screen. They are wondering how the love scene will end, and whether the mistress of the house of the unusual groom will choose. A woman is very condescending to her gentleman. She sees his physical defect, but does not refuse the fan. The lady calmly listens to his speeches and is kind to him.

The picture is written in light gray tones using red, bard, raspberry and brown scales. The artist worked on it for a long time and hard. He perfectly depicted the Baroque home interior. On the walls in the golden framework hang self-portraits; in the corner rises a chic, white mirror with silver candlesticks; on the nightstand there is a cage with a large, green parrot. At the entrance – a sculptural stele and a table with cutlery.

The brush masters created a comic canvas. And from the plot you can only guess how this comedy action will end.
