The Museum and galleries of contemporary art Erarta – a long-term project, which includes a Museum with a permanent exhibition, an international network of galleries and numerous programs of support and promotion of contemporary art.
Galleries present contemporary Russian art and engaged in sales of works by Russian artists around the world – in Zurich, London, new York and Hong Kong.
In St. Petersburg in a five-storey building of the former Institute, 10 000 sq metres houses a Museum, exhibition halls and St. Petersburg’s Erarta gallery.
Erarta Museum is the largest non-governmental Museum of contemporary art in Russia. The collection includes over 2,300 works by more than 170 artists from different Russian regions: paintings, art objects, sculptures, installations. Erarta opened many regional young artists, which is always harder to get on the “big stage” than the painters from Moscow or St. Petersburg. The permanent exhibition is located in one wing of the building. The Museum collection is quite diverse: in Erarta you can see the rare object science art, large-scale installations, video art and examples of virtually all the trends in modern painting. Erarta also offers unique projects that can only be seen in this Museum: total installation U-space, a multimedia theater without actors, isanimation – an animated history pictures, animated television series about art “Black Square” and more. All projects are located in the Museum wing of Erarta.
The second wing of the building given under the St. Petersburg gallery (first floor), and exhibition halls. Erarta maintains an active exhibition activity, organizing personal and collective exhibitions of Russian artists. Also sometimes organizes exhibitions of foreign contemporary artists. The temporary exhibition changes every 1.5 months. In the framework of the “Russia in Erarta” the Museum takes in St. Petersburg, artists from different parts of Russia and is organizing its own traveling exhibitions in the regions. For 4 years the exhibition of modern Russian painting from the collection of Erarta held in Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Novgorod, Perm, Surgut, Krasnodar and other cities.
In the evening at Erarta almost daily performances, concerts, lectures, film screenings. Young theater groups, the experimental troupe, Russian and foreign musicians perform at Erarta, many of them premiere performances or unique programs.
Tour Erarta Department offers a sightseeing tour of the Museum, which take place every hour from 11:00 to 20:00. Useful for those who are not professionally versed in the art, or the first time in this Museum. Catalogue of principle, there are a variety of excursions – General and thematically philosophical, for art connoisseurs and novices alike. For visitors created all conditions for interesting and comfortable visit, including for people with disabilities.
In the basement of the Museum is the restaurant and, in warm season a summer terrace. On the third floor of a coffee shop is the perfect place for rest and meetings. On the ground floor are shops: here you can order a print of a favorite painting, buy more Souvenirs, or a book on art.
