The state Museum of the history of religion is located in the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Open Museum was in 1932. Exhibition dedicated to the history of religions, which was held in 1930 at the Winter Palace, was the impetus for the Museum’s opening.
The state Museum of religion is one of the few museums in the world, which in great detail describes the history of the origin and development of religion. The Museum is about 200 thousand exhibits. A number of historic monuments from different countries can not fail to impress.
The most interesting in the Museum are two halls: the religion of Ancient Egypt and ancient Greek religion. In the first room you can see a real mummy, sarcophagi, various charms, amulets, figurines, and many other interesting exhibits. In the hall devoted to ancient Greek religion can be observed mostly sculptures of Greek gods.
In the state Museum of the history of religion, you can also see unique exhibits such as the brick, which was part of the tower of Babel and others.
The Museum often hosts various conferences and seminars. The Museum is very huge, so for people with disabilities even provided a kind of elevators.
