Overview of the painting :

Three sisters in the park – Grigory Grigoryevich Masyoedov. Oil on canvas. 58.3 x 76.3 cm
The bright traveler, representative of realism Grigory Grigoryevich Myasoedov, mainly devoted his work to the image of peasant life, their heavy share and disenfranchised position in society.

But over time, by the end of the 19th century, he almost refuses to critically look in his works and begins to write lyrical, lively and delicate landscapes.

His female images are also beautiful, which, by the way, are very few, but the more vividly the versatile talent of the painter becomes visible.

One of the magnificent works of Meat-eaters is a portrait of three sisters resting in the park. The picture is simple and expressive at the same time, although there is no active action or a fascinating plot in it.

Three sisters, being in a green and flowering park, sat down to relax on the bench. They are similar to each other not only in kinship, but also in youth, romance and carelessness.

The painter was very successful and accurately able to show the character of each of the girls. So, the natures of two sisters reading a book are probably romantic and poetic. And as soon as they sat down to rest after a long walk, they immediately enthusiastically plunged into reading. Most likely, they were interested in a novel or a collection of sentimental poems.

A sister sitting a little at a distance gives the impression of a more lively and active character. Although now her gaze, aimed directly at the artist, is a little detached and thoughtful.

Virtuoso, with great skill, the surrounding nature is written – a smooth pond, green leaves, bright flowers, glare of sunlight, gently sliding along tree trunks, on light dresses and on the lovely faces of young girls.

The author’s realistic approach, coupled with subtle lyrism and enthusiasm, has a wonderful effect, creating a harmonious and spectacular painting of real talent.
