Overview of the painting :
The view of Tiflis from Seyd-Abaz is Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky. Oil on canvas. 47 x 36 cm
The great marinist in this small picture showed himself to be a talented landscape painter who can perfectly convey not only all overflows of sea waves, but also create a feeling of air-filled space.
This modest canvas features a deep panoramic view of the Tiflis from the mountains. The buildings located in the foreground are flooded with bright sunlight, their shape, figures of people and horses, two large trees are written extremely meticulously, with many detailed details. Central street with an expressive realistic perspective goes down, where lies the bulk of the houses. The rocks around the city form a kind of bowl filled with a special lilac haze, so the illuminated houses in the center seem pink, and the distant mountains – blue.
These cool shades of lilac, blue and purple contrast with the warm golden sunlight of the foreground, giving the picture special expressiveness and volume. The canvas not only perfectly conveyed the prospect and impression of vast space, but there is a special, quiet and lyrical mood. This is not just a landscape, it is a feeling of love for a wonderful city.
