Print “illegitimate” pursued Perov from birth to the time when the great artist had ceased to be someone’s son, and was himself a bright and extraordinary personality. His name – the result of a “witty” nickname, which he received from his first teacher deacon-sapevski, this elegant possession of pen.
A little about the parents
The artist’s father was a Baron Krudener, who served as a Prosecutor in the remote Siberian province. The coat of arms Greenarrow replete with Royal lilies, unicorns and roses, which testifies to the antiquity and nobility. From Greenarrow came a lot of brilliant diplomats who served the Russian Empire in the New and Old world.
The hero’s mother – Akulina Ivanov, was Tobolsk bourgeois. It is known that she taught the future Professor and academician to read. But nothing more is known.
Despite the fact that shortly after the birth of Basil, the Baron Krudener Ivanov and Akulina married, nor his name nor the title of father of his firstborn son is not able to convey. Basil was assigned to Arzamas Philistines with the surname Perov.
Since the birth of Vasily family Kridener gets moved. At first it was connected with the service of the father, then, after the scandal in Arkhangelsk (Baron Krudener was an educated man and well-mannered, but the language is very intemperate) because of the satirical poems, describing all the defendants in provincial administration, the service had to leave. Now the wanderings of the family were connected with the search for a new service. Petersburg, the Livonian province, Samara, Arzamas – all I had to live with many relatives that did not make the atmosphere in the family is completely happy.
Finally, when the Baron had lost all faith, it has received the offer to enter the service Manager of a large estate.
Seeing his son’s passion for drawing, his father decides to send him to a private school of Stupin in Arzamas. Twice a week the boy went to school. After three months of teaching ended (classmates took a 13-year-old Perova to a birthday party of some girl, and then at home, the driver brought a drunken teenager, and the mom said, “No!”). After the Manager Baron lost (well, couldn’t help it Kridener from the barbs), the family again moved to Moscow and placed in the apartment just opposite the school Stupina. At this time, the mother of the son was not released and the study resumed.
In 1853, the 20-year-old Perov entered the Moscow school of painting and sculpture. He begins training under the guidance of an experienced teacher Vasiliev, who quickly discerned his remarkable talent at the new student and otherwise helped him. Already during his studies Perov receives a small silver medal for a small sketch. Then they would have lots of medals. But first, the artist always remembered with special warmth. Latest student work becomes a picture of “the First rank”, which earned the young artist a small gold medal.
After graduation, Perov for his work strongly dominates the society: “Rural procession on Easter”, “the Sermon in village”, “Tea drinking in Mytishchi” – each work instruction, each – like a shot in the hypocrisy, bigotry, cowardice. Head over Perov begin to thicken the clouds, the Holy Synod annoyed and frustrated. The only Grand gold medal of the Academy, the scholarship and the departure to Europe calmed passions. Youth ended.
Perov abroad was bored, despite a few remarkable works, brought out. He even refers to the Academy with a request for permission to return early. Russia were necessary for inspiration to bring ideas to life.
At home the artist works very fruitfully. Soon new talent spoke criticism and progressive community. Every picture causes a storm of enthusiasm among the literati and youth, as well as a storm of indignation among the conservatives. The plot is “three”, “Rural funerals”, “Drowned”, “the Last tavern at the Outpost” rebuke, cry, call. In each work, read the attitude of the author toward the events, his citizenship, his pain.
Simultaneously Perov creates a number of brilliant works depicting the life and joys of ordinary people. The painting “Sleeping children” and “Hunters at rest”, “Fisherman”, “Pigeon” delight the viewer with its sheer joy, love and fun.
We should also mention the pleiad of brilliant portraits painted by artists in the heyday. Dostoevsky, Rubinstein, Ostrowski, Mike, Dal – Perov left to posterity a deep psychological portraits of the most talented people of his era. Those who are proud of Russia.
Perov is not only a great artist, but no less a great teacher. Under his leadership at the Moscow school of painting and sculpture has grown more than a dozen artists, who constitute the pride of Russian art.
Less than half a century have released a new Lord in life on earth. Tuberculosis, a disease at that time incurable, interrupted the creative path of the great master. A small hospital in the village Kuzminki near Moscow became the last refuge of the painter. His ashes now rest in the cemetery of the Donskoy monastery.
