Overview of the painting :
Volga. Rainbow – Boris Mikhailovich Kustodiev. 1925. Oil on canvas
The Volga was written by many Russian artists, but at Kustodiev it turned out to be special. Before us is a Volga worker, a nurse. Tugs running along the great river, barges slowly reach for them. Steep shores painted red, multi-colored sky, green forest and white church in the distance. The artist uses all the colors of the solar spectrum to show the diversity and beauty of the Volga coast.
Having absorbed all the colors of the sunset Volga, a rainbow ascended into heaven.
The sky in the picture is separated by an invisible axis. The right side is ready to clear up, the left is in the rain. It is thanks to the rain that the sky reflects the colors of the earth and the Volga, giving the landscape a fabulousness and brightness.
