Overview of the painting :

A woman with a head from roses – Salvador Dali. 1935. Wood, butter. 35×27

The work is filled with the symbols, hopes and fears of the artist. Against the background of the starry predawn sky, two friends in a normal, very female situation: an fitting of a new outfit. The outfit is not ready, the fabric that drops, transforming into tenacious male hands, does not want to let go of a thin figure. The second friend thought about drawing the future outfit. The fragility of the models is successfully emphasized by the egg on a white unstable board.

The background of the canvas is interesting. A lonely male figure carefully looks at the dog’s head with rocks on the top of the head. Rocks are an obstacle, a dog head is a frightening fidelity. Obstruction, complexity, difficulty – fidelity for a man has always been one of the fears in relations with women. Fear and attractiveness of sin, on the one hand, attractiveness and temptation, on the other.

The rising sun will soon destroy the illusion. Long shadows will disappear. Women’s figures will regain their earthly features, fears will disappear, ready to return at any moment.

The color scheme is rich, all the colors of the work are connected in the outfit of a “smart” lady, only a bright belt, an aggressive red color, reveals the internal mood.

The artist’s fantasy experiments are nothing more than a creative rethinking of the early finds of medieval and Renaissance artists using the symbolic meaning of objects to uncover the idea of work.

The color head of the heroine is an attempt to convey the special attitude of the author, to emphasize the attractiveness, fragility, illusoryness of the model.

The work is filled with freedom, air emptiness. Six objects leaves the author to the viewer on an ideal plane divided into thin stripes. The horizon is empty, it limits the infinity in which the plot of the work unfolds.

The outfit will never be ready. Work is an attempt to fix the continuous and eternal process of the relationship between beauty and man.
